Another New Build Done (well 99%)

So I finally finished refurbing my new frame and bike. Its been definately a learning experience in terms of what not to do sometimes but I've also gained so much bike mechaic knowledge which is invaluable, imho.

I've also learnt a great deal about the dublin bike shops and especially there workshops. I started out building a bike for the turbo and ended up another nice road bike. My theme became anti-black (or anti-carbon) and i've pretty much completed that apart from a few things.

Its only 99% completed as I have yet to order a white, hudz, and bar tape to complete it.

Anyway here's the pics. Next frame will be single speed / fixie.

Start - Pulled from a skip

End - Full Campag Centaur Groupset, Chris King Headset, Custom Centaur Open Pro Wheels, NO CARBON

Wow Scott, that really does look amazing!

Can't wait to try it myself, it's that kind of satisfaction (like watching "a car is born") that I really like, knowing that you made something yourself.

It's a shame that people don't realise what can be done with old bikes, instead of tossing them into a skip *cough* check sig *cough*.

Hopes it goes as well as it looks anyway! :)

Lovely. Any chance of a closeup of the crankset? I have a bit of a "problem" with shiny cranks.

I thought carbon was unavoidable at Centaur level, glad to be mistaken (perhaps it's Chorus).

That looks really nice. It's amazing what people throw away. Best of luck with it.

(There seem to be two versions of Centaur, alloy or carbon:

Hope this image is suffice... 2009 Campag does a full alloy group set at centaur level which is all silver. I originally wanted to get 105 but this is much nicer. The hubs are actually 2008 as centaur hubs are now discontinued.

P.S. thats rain on the crank set -- it was raining for the test ride.

Looks tasty! Did you strip the original paint off, or just spray over on top of it?

Cant believe you found that in a skip. Its insane what people throw out.

Nitromors stripped the paint off then I painted it. Its took ages and as I didn't really have a good place to paint it I had to touch it after painting each coat. I ended up deciding, after about 4 coats, to just take the bike it to get painted as it was only 120 euros, and more importantly got rid of the pain for me.
