Northampton would kill them at home.

Connacht will be cut to pieces at the Gardens

If teams like Bath, Harlequins and Leicester can't win at Northampton (reference to English Premiership) Connacht are unlikely to either.

Would anyone with a bit of knowledge about Northampton like to post? Star of the season? How to get to them?
As a Connacht fan I'd appreciate it. I don't get to watch the GP.

Mad passionate rugby town, went down in the GP last season. Kept hold of most of their big name players, who showed remarkable loyalty to stick with the team (especially their inspirational kiwi centre Bruce Reihana) and went straight back up...

The bad news for Connacht is that they've got n excellent home record this season (unbeaten AFAIK) and in their scrum-half Ben Foden they've got the form player of the GP this year. Alot of folk reckon he may leap frog Danny Care to the 6n scrum-half berth. Fernandez-Lobbe, Dylan Hartley and Sean Lamont are other notable saintsmen to watch out for.

As for travel, Airport wise, Luton and Birmingham are probably your best bet. Its about and hour and a half from Central london by car.

Their pack at home can produce quicker ball then anyone in Europe, if you watched Saints vs Tigers you would of seen the ball stay in a ruck for about 2 seconds max it was that quick. Now consider Leicester have the meanest pack in the GP you ll get some idea of how just how good they are when things flow. Unlucky draw you the Westies could of got Viadanna instead :(

Unfortunately the bottom line is they're a much better team than Connacht. They've a number of internationals on their squad. Anything other than a loss would be an 'upset'. When they dropped to DIV 1 for the year they finished with highest points ever afaik.

East Midlands even? Think BMi fly there.

I always use Birmingham airport as you have a choice of Aer Lingus and Ryan Air, plus there is a direct train to Npton from Birmingham International Airport costs about £13 for a return £10 for a one way ticket. When you come out of the station, if you go up towards the town centre 10 minute walk at the most, going past a complex called Sol Central which has bar, restaurant, cinema, casino, hotel etc.
If you turn right over the bridge when you come out of the station. you wll pass the Thomas Beckett pub big irish contingent of locals but more soccer than rugby. Next pub is the Foundry Tavern full of Saints fans on match days empty otherwise. If you have walked past these within, 20 mins you are at the Gardens, home of the Jimmies.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks Markest. Sounds like a good option for those of us who dislike buses and the sort.
