    Hi there, I'm looking for some advice if possible. I was travelling for work during the week and hooked up to wifi at the travellodge I was staying at (UK). The next day when I tried using laptop I:Could not open word (I get a message 'no more files') (If I try to open a particular word file on the desk top, nothing happens.Can't open explorer, can't open internet explorer unless I go into program files and select the icon, right click and select 'run as'Can't open most executable files it seemsCan open excel (weird)see that there is a lot of repeated activity under processes under task manager when I control alt delete.Does this sound like a virus or any other ideasmany thankspab

    Sounds like a virus/malware for sure.

    Try downloading Malwarebyte's Anti-Malware program. It did the business for me when a worm slipped past both AVG and Adaware on my PC.

    thanks dublinwriter. I have NOD32 which I ran and it has uncovered a worm which I have deleted. While I can get on to some websites, I don't seem to be able to down load the program you suggest. The file download box comes up and seem to be attempting to download but then I get a message 'not able to open that site'I also notice in the scan that many if not all of the files are deemed to be locked (error opening file, file locked). Is this part of the worm?Just for info, the worm found is Mytob.y worm. Still scanning
