1 album, multiple instances in iTunes

Not sure this is the right place for this, but something strange is going on in my iTunes. I have a few albums where the album artwork is being duplicated, almost as if iTunes thinks they are different albums. For example, The Earth Is Not A Cold Dead Place has 6 songs on it. In iTunes, I can see the artwork for this album 3 times, once for the first song, once for the second and then one more time for the last 4. This is happening several times throughout my collection. I've tried Get Info in iTunes to make them all the same album and also Media Tagger, but they're all showing as the same album, artist, etc. The album cover was auto-loaded by iTunes aswell, so it sees them as the same album only different?

the most likely problem is that there is a slight difference in either the artist or album name in your info, e.g. one might have capital letters where the other doesn't.....try holding Shift + select all of the song in the album, right click on them and choose "get info" and then enter the album and artist info there and see if that makes a difference.

Let us know if that helps..

After further investigation, the problem appears to be the Album Artist field in Get Info. If I select all the songs as you suggest, then check Artist, Album Artist and Album in the dialog (ie don't change them, just check the checkbox), then duplicates disappear. There's nothing in this field for any of them but doing this apparely solves the issue, so maybe there's corrupted white space or something? I'm not sure what Album Artist even is (compilations?) so leaving it blank is hopefully not causing any issue.

Album artist is the main artist of the ablum.
Song artist might differ from where the sond features somebody extra.
