have a friend who is possibly allergic to dust mites as he has difficultly breathing particularly at night and especially in the morning, waking up with red eyes, tickly throat, blocked nose and sinuses

    non-smoker ,regular exerciser,mid twenties,non asthma sufferer

this problem has been getting progressively worse for 3 years

he also has hayfever in summer which can be controlled by citrizine

and psoriasis on top of head (possibly unrelated)

he has been to local old gp who reckons "theres nothing wrong with him"

id like him to see someone else as im sure hes allergic to something

he has tried constant vacuuming, washing bedclothes at 90degrees,momved house twice etc(rented accomodation) and nothing seems to be helping

is there anyone in dublin who could properly diagnose or treat this kind of thing?

does anyone recommend anyone or hear of something like this before?

A bit of a shot in the dark, but I had similar problems years ago with a feather duvet/pillows. Might be worth checking.

Agreed, Dr. Paul Carson in particular would be well regarded as an expert in allergy diagnosis and treatment.

Try Irish Center for Intergrated medicine in Kildare - not sure of web address but had fantastic allergy assessment done there about a year ago and solved a host of health problems.

pop up a link please if commenting on these - its is very important for the OP to know if he is seeing a doctor who does formal allergy testing or if there is an alternative medicine practitioner.

They do seem to offer a thorough scientific screening which includes IgE levels to specific antigens from blood samples as well as skin testing (which is only a component of allergy screening)

Cost is the issue though that has to be weighed in.

It is always better to talk to your own GP before doing anything like this - it may be something else which he/she can readily identify and they can give a referral letter subsequently that you can use either private or public

I know the Allergy assessment is partially covered by most Health insurance companies depending on the policy that you have.
