I spent a few hours today with a group of people who graduated last summer and are yet to get a job. It was shocking to hear of their approach and it all seemed quite common. I'm sure this can be found on the net and else where but still it might be uesful for some
    • Check for job's on company websites instead of job search engines.
    • Send speculative queries into companies directly. Sell yourself in the email.
    • Before applying for a job or shortly after applying ring the employer / agent up asking about the position. Highlight the fact that you applied
    • If you're not getting acceptence or rejection letters you arent even being looked at which is the worst of all
    • Clicking apply for job on monster / irishjobs / nixers is not applying for a job if you havent done any of the above. Do not blame the recession or your credentials. If you've heard nothing back from the company you are at fault.
