    Hi all,
I'm in need of a benchmarking tool for hard drives / file systems. It needs to have the following tests (in order of importance):
    • Creation of new files & directories
    • Opening of existing files & directories
    • Deletion of files & directories
    • Random length reads
    • Random length writes
    • Copying of files
    • Directory listing benchmarks with various numbers of files held in the directory
I've looked at Iometer, but it doesn't seem to do the regular creating of files (or at least it doesn't provide statistics on this)

I realise I could write it myself, but why rewrite code that has already been perfected? My preference is to a free/open source solution. It must run on 32bit Windows XP.

    Any help appreciated,
    Stephen
