Can anyone clear this up for me.....remember back when Boomer first had her kid and everyone wanted it cause it was some miracle that a cylon had a baby and that kinda thing....well chief Tyrol is a cylon and he had a kid with Cally. Why hasnt the same uproar happened with him? one might argue its because Boomer is female but thats rubbish cause whether its the mother or father, one of the childs parents is a cylon and should be no less a miracle. so did i miss an episode explaining this or did the producers just happen to forget?

I dont understand why Helen and Tigh couldnt conceive, but Tigh and 6 could.

Well, firstly the major seven Cylons, who hold Hera in such high regard, didn't know that Tyroll was one of the final 5, and didn't know that he and Cally's son was a half breed. The final 5 were only revealed to everyone at the end of episode 10, and there were more pressing issues to deal with at the time, like not getting flushed out the air lock, and then getting to Earth. There was simply no time to deal with it in the script.

Anyway, this gets more detail in episode 12, which reveals some interesting facts.

I have a theory.

Cylons are Humans

Cylons can't reproduce normally as long as a resurrection ship is in range.

This was a condition for Earth survivors who devised the resurrection tech in the first place.

The human society we see in BSG are offspring of those who escaped earths nuclear death, who via resurrection tech made it out to new worlds, settled the colonies and, via normal means, reproduced.

Cylons are a lost tribe of humans, who never shook off the ties to the resurrection tech at all.

Any observable difference between the human and cylon gene is due to own manipulation and time spent apart.


Thats my idea anyway.

Pretty good idea - they couldn't be normal humans though - too many things wouldn't add up: Sharon/Athena was able to hook-up to the cylon jump drive by sticking a wire in her vein, or how the skinjobs (apart from final 5) don't age. Or how the skinjobs (including the one that topped Callie) seem to be superstrong, can transmit their memories, etc.

Possibly the skinjobs aren't really cylons, but a big genetics/breeding experiment carried out by robotic cylons. Perhaps Cylons intercepted the 13th ship or colony and wiped it out but cloned 12 surviving members of the human race in a series of despicable genetic experiments designed to satisfy some god complex. "humans created us so we'll create better versions of them". Perhaps the cylon "God" is a wizard of Oz type geneticist sitting in a mega cylon lab somewhere orchistrating it all.

This might at least explain why skinjobs and (some) humans can seemingly breed which never added up.
