I love the no bullsh*t wheels by the way. Just the thing for Irish roads. Is that 14g straight or 14/15g butted spokes you have there? I see you went with 32 holes on the back - I was leaning towards 36 when I get a set. Do you mind me asking what you weigh? I'm 85-90 kg depending on time of year. Last Q: where did you get them built up?

Nice ride. Was it up around UCD at some stage last week perchance? I definitely saw a similar looking Mercian.

That's the small rack, there's a double bookcase full on the other side of the room!

double butted spokes, not sure of the gauge on Mavic Open Pro Rims. Built to order from Parker International for 150 stg all in -they'll do builds on all components they sell -well worth checking out. They're 32 holes front and back -I just felt there wasn't the need for 36, I don't think they'd add all that much strength or stiffness. I'm 90kg+ atm, and they're fine for that!

Me too! Note to self, don't have a few drinks, then come home and attempt to finish of fixie before taking it for a ride. You will forget to add the crank bolts, and your cranks will come off attached to your feet

Fraid not, was finished last night!

Thanks for all the compliments, but the biggest one by far has to go to Itsfixed for hooking me up with such a beautiful frame -I owe you far more than one mate!

If only they were vintage! Standard, brand new Mavic Open Pros -just look a little old school :)

Thats awesome. I've really got to put all into great and get a great frame for a single speed. Thats is a lovely piece of work - well done.

Good lad. Top marks. Thief magnet!
I prefer Armadillos to the Gators myself, mind.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,481 ✭✭✭Morgan

I dunno. A white Aerospoke on the front would really tie the bike together.

Well done, Tiny, looks superb. Great to see it. I must be mad. Why did I get rid of it again? I can't actually remember now. Oh well.

Seriously, well wear, and hope you put many happy miles on it.

    Have you ridden it yet?

Yup, and first puncture this morning :(

It rides and handles like a charm... beautiful, beautiful bike mate.

It really needs drops on it though, forget what I prefer, looks wise it needs it!

Is it a complete pita to change a tube on fixies? I can't imagine trying to get the chain tension correct at the side of the road with rain bucketing down on top of you is a whole lot of fun.

Not really. Pull the skewer as far as it will go and tighten. It's slightly less faff than a geared bike, as the derailleur doesn't get in the way.

The only problem is if you left the spanner at home.

It was the front wheel, so not too bad :) Even on the rear wheel it's ok, as tension is not as important as some people make out imo -and it's easy to get it tight enough to get you home at the very least!

1st puncture already. Maybe the bike is cursed, I'd get rid of it as soon as possible. Let me know when I can pick it up.;)

Yowza, she's a beaut! I'd be afraid to go out on that at all if I owned it in case something happened to it!

    Well done!
