A friend of mine got 2 points for speeding on his bike recently. He has told his insurer (for the bike) Does he also have to tell his car insurance company or are points category specific?

    All the one I'm afraid!

Does he have to tell the insurer or do they find out themselves? His car insurance is a named driver on his parents policy as he's only 17. Will this affect his parents too? Naturally the "no penalty points bonus" is out the window
I myself have 2 points too but I told my insurer straight away but its not me up for discussion

Your may remember from Business studies in school ,the term 'Utmost good faith'.If he doesn't be up front on everything he'll run the risk of the insurer not paying out in the event of a claim.

Anyhow 2 points shouldn't make much of a difference

If you are with Hibernian then it makes 10% of a difference from 0 points to 2 points.

They're bound to feel let down and wonder where they went wrong. They'll find some comfort that he's alive and well, though, and should just move on.
