    Hi

Were getting in a sky+ box in a weeks time and i was wondering about the possability of using a spare normal sky box my brother has. also would I be able to ask the installer to put it in on the day for an extra consideration. What do you all think

Without multiroom sub you will only get the free channels..also it really depends on who you get to install if you treat him nice maybe even throw him an extra couple of quid he might do it.

I see, I can connect it to the satellite but as i do not have a spare viewing card I can not use it for the package channels but I could get the FTA one's. Mrs Dathimac will be truly delighted. (not a fan of tv outside the sitting room)

It shouldn't be too difficult to do yourself if you have some basic electrical experience.
All you need is a length of co-ax and two screw on connectors.

The sky+ install will come with a quad lnb, i.e 4 outputs at the dish.
There will be 2 free, you need to connect your second box to one of these.

You will get quite a few free channels, Sky News stills comes free as far as I know and is probably the most useful channel you will get.

Multi room subscriptions cost roughly €15 extra a month.

If you like a Murdoch slant on the news. Some of us find other free channels better!

All the basic UK channels are free.

Roger that Watty, I'd prefer France24 or even Al Jazeera to Murdoch News!
