We've probably all seen the ''Things that annoy you about Galway thread, thought it'd be a good idea to see what people loved about Galway.

Personally for me I love the:

    People
Hole in the Wall / Monroes
    Snack Box
    Charcoal Grill
    Docks
and the fact you can get a game of Bowling and a pint of Guiness for 3.90!

    Whats yours?

The city during the summer(i.e. sunny days, whatever they are?).
    Sunset over Galway Bay.
    Ladies day.
    Charcoal Grill.
    Blackrock/The Prom.
    Can walk everywhere.
Not nearly as many scumbags and junkies as Dublin.
The characters - KD, warty Nora et al.
    NUIG.
    The wimmin.

    the canals
    the atmosphere
    the college grounds
    the walk around salthill.

I love the proper Galway City accent (you know the one I mean, not the posh one or any of the Galway County accents).

    Everything !!!

mcdonaghs chips with a bag of cans in spanish arch
cans at the back of the commerical/back of the court house
    the market on saturdays
    arran islands
the fact that galway airport is the only airport you don't have to queue for anything at all

By the way, whoever thinks the hole in the wall is good must suffer from extreme sensory deprivation or have really low expectations from life - it's possibly the worst pub in galway with the mankiest beer in galway (sometimes i wonder if the urinals are connected directly to the taps in the bar)

summer....down by the spanish arch and everyone is drinking.....

    +1

Also, less scumbags when compared to other counties. Some may disagree

    +1, definitely agree

    Also:
    The Blue Note
Lesser pubs than the Blue Note, some of which are also great ;)
    The people
    The bay
    The compact size

Walking out the prom/Claddagh/Docks/Along the River and canals

The fact that you can feel like you're in the country after only a 10min drive out of the city

The scenery around Lough Corrib. Infact Lough Corrib fullstop. Apart from the accident last year destroying the water with high levels of Crypto, you can pretty much drink the water straight out of the lake/river (I'm not talking down Claddagh/In town, but further up the river past Menlo and on the lake). I love swimming in the lake during the summer... go down to the Shannon and the water is a constant manky boggy brown - not that it's polluted, but it's just not nice to swim in

    Galway Bay/Blackrock for swimming

The underground streams between Lough Mask/Corrib (OK so a bit of Mayo too) for scuba diving - Hope to do it next year but from the pics i've seen scuba diving in the caves is fcukin' scary but a seirous buzz

Don't know if that is sarcasm but I +1 to that!

I also like the fact that there is a beach and the people are nice...I wish I was going to college in Galway.

Well we do like to complain in Galway. That's another thing I like about Galway actually - the complaining. I love a good moan!

    What I like:
Town on a sunny summers day.
Bumping into friends all the time.
It's small enough to walk through but has all the major shops and amenities.
Closeness to the bay, beaches, Connemara, Burren.
3 close airports, Galway, Knock and Shannon.
The foreigners and students that liven up the place.

The constant driving rain? Anytime I went to Galway Winter or Summer you could count on getting a nice bit of rain. My wife always insists on going shopping anyway so I am always wet there.

Dublin Airport won't be too far away (travel time wise) either when the motorway is finished. 1hr 45mins or less I reckon.

We're really lucky in the sense that we have many air travel options open to us here.
