Too fast

I'm not sure if I'm just looking for reassurance here or answers but hoping people can help.

I met a man about 4 months ago. We are 40 and 41 respectively, both single, no kids, own homes, etc. We started going out with each other and sleeping with each other fairly immediately. We have both already had a mix of long/short term relationships.

We get on so well. We are very alike though compliment each others weaker points with our strengths. We see each other 2/3 times a week and it seems to be going really well.

But I'm wondering if it's going a bit fast? We have also both said the 'love' word. I really am mad about him and he seems to be (and says) he is crazy about me.

Do you think that it's all a bit fast? Or do you think that I should just sit back and enjoy what seems to be a good relationship at this stage in my life? I'm worried that it seems a bit too good and find myself waiting for the bolt of lightening to hit and that this is almost jinxing things.

God, I'm so mixed up between what I want to do and what I think is the right thing to do. I feel like a silly teenager and think that maybe the sensible thing to do is to call a halt to it.

    Any opinions would be helpful!

try and think of any reason why you would want to call a halt to something that is so good

your lucky to find someone that you click with so well

    go with it & enjoy

Just take it as it comes and enjoy it.
Sounds like things are going well. No need to worry.

I think you're putting too much emphasis on your ages. If you were mid-twenties and things were progressing as they are, would you feel differently?

in fairness ya shud have a bit more common sense,ye are both in yer 40s not 20s or teens so ye can do what ye like and not have to worry about what other people think, its your own personal happiness thats worth the most, dont worry and just go with whatever path is comfortable for ye both to take.

other than that ,best of luck

Just enjoy it. I personally don't believe that it's ever "too soon" to tell someone you love them if you truely feel it. You're lucky you've met someone you feel so strongly about, so stop worrying!

If things "just happen" without too much thought then I think it would be logical to say that both people wanted it to happen, and therefore is moving at the speed you want it to happen at.

Why do people worry about this 'too fast' thing.

The faster ya fall for each other the more in tune you are with each other. You wouldn't fall head over heels for a muppet like.

Who is it that sets the 'speed rules'? I have a friend who has been in a relationship with her man for over 2 years and only told him last week that she loved him. My dad says he loved my mum the first time he set eyes on her 46 very happy years ago...

You are crazy not to take the chance and just enjoy what you have. You are old enough to know your own minds and act on it without worrying what other people think. You seem to come across as being incredibly happy so just enjoy that aspect of it. If you have expressed your love for each other 'already' then happy days! Life is too short sometimes not to take a chance on how you feel. Better to have said it honestly than spend your life thinking what if....sometimes things come at us and blindside us...those things aren't all bad..some of them are pretty good and some are mind blowing...let your mind be blown and enjoy it.

If it develops into something more then you'll experience a wonderful journey with someone you love and if it doesn't, well at least you tried...

    Most of all, be happy...
