Need to get myself a watch as I want to start doing some minute on minute off work to improve my 5K time.

Looking at the Timex options in Argos. Is there a better option?

    Cheers

I use a GPS watch for training but the Timex Ironman for races. Classic watch - very light, 50 lap memory, easy button for pressing splits - great watch.

Hi Gmurran, RF is this the one you are looking for?

    http://www.wiggle.co.uk/p/Cycle/7/Timex_Triathlon_50_Lap_Sleek_Watch/5360032922/

I Got it from Wiggle for about e50 including delivery. Took just a couple of days to arrive. Its sleek, light and clear display. It has a timer and multi timer so it will cater for your 1'on/1' off session Gmurran. You can just set the timer to beep (loudly enough) every 60 sec and it will record the number of laps up to 50 laps. You can get an itouch version too to connect to your ipod but I just got the one in the link as I can use it swimming too and I couldn't be bothered with unnecessary wizardry on my wrist :) Its not GPS but its got the basic stuff you need and its great value for the price IMO.

Oh and if you put in this code P8YQ6-FFAKG you can get a further £5 off purchases over £25

    Regards,
    MCOS

depends what your budget is but polar watches are excellent. Have an S725x that comes with heart rate monitor and footpod which tells you your speed and distance. check out the polar website:cool:

I got a Timex Ironman watch in Argos a few months ago. I'm convinced I only paid 30 euro for it. It doesnt do anything too fancy - stopwatch / lap times etc.. I like it.

Thanks everyone. I went to Argos and got a basic Ironman* Triathlon 10 Lap. I wanted it for Raheny tomorrow.

After investigating a bit I think I'm going to get a heart rate monitor so may invest a bit more cash at that point.

    Hi all,

By any chance has anyone got a Garmin 305 available for sale?

I want to buy one and will probably buy online in a few days time but if anyone had one that they're looking to get rid of then I'd be interested.:)

I'd second the recommendation for the forerunner 50 - easy to use and upgradeable to include a foot pod, HRM and cadence sensor for your bike. No GPS but well worht the money , I think.

I recently bought the Timex Gents Ironman 30 Lap FLIX Watch. Main reason I bought it, apart from the price, was for the lap memory function, but I cant seem to get it to work. No point going back to the shop I bought it from - Argos! - no chance that anybody working there would have a clue! - if anybody else out there has this watch, how do you pull up your Previous times?

EDIT - to explain, with my prevous watch (Casio) I could pull up all my previous times for each event the day after. Cant with this watch !

They don't deliver here, but as I'm heading to the UK for a couple of days next week anyway I figured I'd make use of the "temporary" UK address and save a few quid.
