    hi all

im using plesk control panel that manages email etc with a hosting company that begins with b and ends in t - not that thats relavant.

Anyway, the email seems slow, not with the webmail but when you're in thunderbird lets say you click send, 40 seconds later it asks for your pass then sends, don't know why it takes such a long time, any tips for troubleshooting?

    thanks alot

are you sure its the host ?
rather than maybe your computer ? antivirus ? firewall ? thunderbird setup incorrectly ?

could try www.mail2web.com to see if its the host
do you have access to another POP3 server you can try from your computer.
might you have the wrong sort of encryption on the account details ?

mail2web is working fine, on any computer same problem

now the part about the encryption seems most likely, what should it be set to for a POP mail at the moment its on TLS if available , but tehres also No/TLS/SSL

no idea :) i havnt used POP3 in so many years at this stage :) sorry.
and id even offer to ask for an account but i dont even have a POP3 client here. (gmail ftw)

have you tried it without an encryption to see if that is the route to look at ?
dont forget firewalls either, some might try to examine your data. can you quickly turn off your firewall blocking and do a test. just incase.
