    Can someone explain if

    a) In Ireland, you can take a civil action against someone if a criminal action has not been taken in court against the same person?

in other words, if there is a criminal action going to be active maybe 6 months down the road, can you persue the person with a civil action in the meantime or do you have to wait till the criminal action is taken.

    thanks

you can take a civil action without a criminal action ....... but if there is a criminal action in the process then all civil action proceedings will more than likely be adjourned until after criminal proceedings until the judgement - after which the civil action can then continue or be started.

it might be possible that civil action may be started and might even be finished before criminal proceedings - but if criminal proceedings start while the civil action is not completed then.... criminal proceedings superceed civil and civil will be postponed.

    (hope thats confused you enough)

I might have repeated myself there but hopefully you get the point.
