Go to your local dole office and they will give you the forms to fill in. I think it is about 202.00. Because you are laid off you can't get redundancy unless you have been off for a number of weeks. I would advise you to ring citizens information before you do anything. They are friendly and helpful and should be able to tell you all your entitlements including rent allowance.
