hey all... just wondering about a problem i have
with my 05 passat, more of an annoyance to be
honest its just that when you are changing gears there
is a sort of whirring noise coming from the back of the car
only really in first/second gears,:( some times you hear it too when
you put a bit of pressure on the juice, bit sluggish in low gears when
crawling in traffic almost like its under pressure:(
any ideas on what it could be and is it serious???
    thanks.:)

Its your fuel pump. It makes a whirring sound when it cannot draw enough fluid and thats why your getting a sluggish repsonse.

Might be time to get the fuel filter replaced. Just check this out OP, I'm not sure but I have some recollection of a recall or known issue with fuel pumps in Passat's of that year.

If its the current shape passat there was a fuel lift pump recall on the 1.9/2.0tdis.

Well the turbo is up the front of the car in the engine compartment and your noise is coming from the rear of the car???:confused::confused:

If you can get this done under warranty, do because it will be expensive to get sorted otherwise...
