What would Tyler Brûlé make of Irish airports?

"I departed for Copenhagen on Thursday morning and walked into the recently expanded airport and checked in for my flight a mere 25 minutes before departure, without so much as a raised eyebrow or glare from airport staff, glided though an efficiently manned security check in the new shopping plaza and arrived at my gate just as the flight was boarding. Life in Hamburg felt very attractive and, as I’m now en route to Paris, I’m keen to rekindle my Hanseatic affair."

One wonders what Tyler might say of Ireland's airports with their long walks, long queues, and "be at the airport two hours before your flight" blackmail notices? Ryanair's where is your "booking reference" - go to the ticket sales desk, and queue again. Not to mention their €30 "fines" for hand baggage.

Bush, Blair and Howard are all gone and discredited, with their nasty "war on terror" oil grab. It is high time that Ireland made its airports more user-friendly for the business traveller.

It is also time that the Island of Ireland joined the Schengen system fully, and got rid of passport controls for intra-European travel. Make life easy and efficient for the business traveller, or else they will take their business elsewhere. If Northern Ireland joined Schengen, it would virtually eliminate illegal immigration into Ireland. Put the entire island on the same basis as France, Germany, Belgium etc in terms of travel efficiency.

Tyler Brûlé, the publisher of Monocle magazine - www.monocle.com - also writes for the New York Times and the Financial Times.

You think NI is going to join Schengen on its own (without GB) while theres still power sharing let alone a Unionist majority? Full immigration to go to London from Belfast; not a chance...

I've read a lot on this forum and this has got to be the most random, ill informed rant I have ever seen.

Tyler Brûlé is a gay canadian version of ross o'carroll kelly and only of interest to ****.

The country is going down the toilet. Nobody is worried whether some vapid twat might think our airports are uncool.
