Hi everyone, i was wondering could 5 people help me with a survey about young people and crime? Id be very grateful!! :)

Q1 IYO (in your opinion) Do yp (young people!) commit more crimes than adults? Yes No Dont know

Q2 Are crimes yp commit less serious than adult offences?
    Yes No

Q3 Are yp portrayed negatively in the media?
    Yes No

Q4 IYO, Do y males commit more crimes than y females?

Q5 What should be done with young offenders?

If you are doing it can you say if your male, female and your age please? And just say your answers in order eg, yes no yes no counselling... Greatly appreciate any feedback!!

    Talk about generalisation..

Quite ironic actually, considering Q1&2 want us to generalise every young person, and Q3 asks if young people are portrayed negativly in mass media, for that same reason...

Also I think what you're asking is very ambiguous. Different people have different opinions on pretty much everything there.

    - What/who are young people? What age group? More crimes in what area? Of what?
    - Serious depends what you're talking about above, and on the readers opinion of serious
    - What media? again, who are young people?
    - What social area are we talking about? background? Also what kind of crimes?

This is the problem I have with surveys like this. It's about as accurate as rounding up Pi to 2 decimal places

Q1 IYO (in your opinion) Do yp (young people!) commit more crimes than adults?

    No.

Q2 Are crimes yp commit less serious than adult offences?

    Yes.

Q3 Are yp portrayed negatively in the media?

    No.

Q4 IYO, Do y males commit more crimes than y females?

    Yes.

Q5 What should be done with young offenders?

I'm not sure that there is much that can be done. Perhaps education is the only way to protect young people from a life of crime. If the education system was improved to acknowledge people from disadvantaged backgrounds, or indeed backgrounds that instill a propensity in young people to commit crime, then I think the crime rate would drop significantly.

If you are doing it can you say if your male, female and your age please? And just say your answers in order eg, yes no yes no counselling... Greatly appreciate any feedback!!

    I'm male, and I'm 19.

I'm going to keep this thread open if it sparks a debate and discussion. If this is solely about getting figures for a project and this thread results in nothing but this survey then I'll lock it.

It clearly is. Why else would someone bother asking these questions in a survey format?

Quite possibly the dumbest ''survey'' ever.

OP, what exactly do you hope to discover?

i think you do really need to re-word your questions a little bit. or a lot.

i'd definitely do the survey if they were re-worded, but it's just way too open to generalisations and bias this way and i wouldnt feel comfortable giving answers to those specific questions.

Well this is going nowhere fast.
OP this isn't a place for conveniently getting figures for surevys.

If anyone wants to start a thread with serious discussion about young people and crime, by all means do.
