It's Classic Army which in turn = your doomed.

You never know, you could get lucky with CA. I have a year old classic army G36K and AUG A1 and they are still on the go and I have never needed to do anything to them..... yet.

what are you smoking classic army are the best quality wise by a country mile.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,174 ✭✭✭✭Captain Chaos

Once apon a time they were good and at the top of their game. They got raving reviews for their AUG A1 and SLR 105 when they came out but over the past 18 months or so their quality has been slipping big time.

Their external finish is not to the standard it used to be and there is a high percentage of gear box failures, well above the norm. Gears and pistons stripping themselves etc.

The Sportsline range of M15s is fairly bad, there are clones for half the price that are better made and out perform current ''high end'' classic army AEGs.

They are not and it's well known that they aren't.

They have a tendency to strip gears, piston and anything else that moves.

G&G would be far more reliable and better performing by comparison.

So have i made a mistake in buying this gun?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 128 ✭✭ktex2

no you haven't made a mistake..all airsoft guns have a certain lifespan they are all going to have problems after a while. From my own experiences with classic army and other manufacturers is that they are fairly good. Other people may have different experiences but its all subjective. Maintaining it properly is the key to adding to the lifespan.

Wouldn't say that exactly, some people do buy ca's for their exernals and then upgrade the internals as needed.

Just have a good gearbox and piston on stand by for when you need it, maybe a hop up aswell.

Maintaining a CA does nothing. Still doesn't take away it's $^@$ gears and piston, which *will* strip on you, quickly.

QFT. Classic Army gear is fine. For myself, amongst my collection, I have a M15 and a MP5 both sportline, both working fine after several months use. Don't believe everything you read on here. If you take care of your stuff it will work fine. Personally, I would'nt touch Jing Gong (JG) or Well/WE stuff with a barge pole, but that's just my opinion.

I took back seven self destructing Sportsline M15's in one day in the shop. That's not to mention the countless others. It got to the stage where we stopped repairing them and just sent them back to the supplier because they just weren't worth the time or hassle. I think, I'd have to check this up, out of all the Sportslines we sold, there are two still out there that haven't been returned.
We actually have a Sportsline in the shop that we keep to show just how bad a quality it is, and the difference, when put beside even the G&G plastic M4, let alone any clone metal body rifles, is shocking. By contrast, the most reliable rifle in the entire country is the JG G36c.

PS, this is coming from a multiple CA owner: They're pants.
It's not an uninformed position. I still have two of their G36's and both need pretty much a whole new gearbox each, and only one of them has seen a skirmish. Both are getting JG gearboxes because they're fantastic.
I have a 3 year old CA G36k which needs a new piston, but is otherwise ok, but this was bought back when CA were still TM rivals, not Double Eagle rivals.
Maintaining something only does so much. Anyone here that knows me will tell you I put the best of everything into my aeg's when maintaining and repairing them. I'm not one to shirk away from spending extra to get my equipment working at the top of it's ability. There is, however, no way to make a silk purse out of a sows ear.

How long have you had your g36s?

How long ago exactly did classic army go down hill, is it recent or what?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,161 ✭✭✭✭Witcher

QC went downhill about 1 1/2 ago according to people who repair them everyday.

Ask Richie from Eirsoft, the guy had my sportsline in, and about every CA Eirsoft have sold since they opened.

I don't think Eirsoft have stocked or sold any Classic Army AEG's since summer 2008 AFAIK. (Open to correction) I remember Tony telling the story of a lot of problems back then with sportline models.

South East Airsoft do the CA Proline & Sportsline range.
Both of mine are still ok, could be luck. :)

Is it worth getting a secound hand one, the shop im buying my gun from has the same one second hand and has said i can take it instead of waiting for the new one to come in.. Its a year old and i was holding it and it really does seem like its in perfect condition, it also shoots fine(0.71 JOULES) Although in my own opionion that does seem preety weak for a aeg.....

Tbh I wouldn't touch any CA, it may be a year old and be before QC went downhill but it also has a year of wear and tear on it and will cost more in long run.

I'd wait for the new one.
0.71J sounds a bit weak, both of my CA guns (MP5, M15) are around 320 fps with a 9.6v battery. What really attracted me to them were the trademarks (Classic Army are licenced by both ArmaLite and B&T), but they worked out fine so far for practical use also.
