    Hi all,

Pure newbie question here maybe already answered and apolgies in advance.

I'm going to be doing some work on my home and wanted to put cable in for Tv etc. Ihave a good idea of what maybe involved but just wanted to see maybe better way.

I'm planning a FTA sat system where i would use a quattro off the dish and feed a multiplexer to be able to have a sat signal in any room i.e 6.
If I feed the DTT aerial signal into multiplexer will it get affected or have any issues at other end when i use a diplexer to split signal.

I was thinking of using one of those combo boxes (Technomate).

I suppose my basic questions is do i need 2 co-ax for each point or can I just use one and split it at end point.

If i was to leave the quattro/multiplexer system and just go off a quad LNB for four TV's could I use the single cable also to combine DTT down the one cable.

Quick one is there any cheap meter for finding UHF/DTT signals or is just point luck!!!

    Thanks for the help.
    :)

A Quattro (not Quad) LNB and a Multiswitch will work perfectly for you.

Wow, in EACH room, that'll be a pricey set-up!

No, the whole point of a Quattro LNB and Multiswitch is a single cable to each room that you then split with a Diplexer.

Probaly cost you MORE as you'll need 4 extra Diplexer combiners and a distribution amp for DTT signals

If you know what frequency the DTT Mux is on just tune it in and use the signal meter on the DTT STB (I adjusted my aerial to find the analogue signal first then tuned it in with the STB's Signal Intensity meter but was easy this way as I had TV and aerial in the loft.)
Or you could buy one of these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250341940585

    Thanks GTG60,

Yeah those boxes are pricey alright but hoping to use them but prob not in everyroom!! I'm hoping they'll come down in price. Here's hoping eh!!! Main thing is get cabling right

Yeah i reckon the multiplexer is the way to go, it'd would be the cleanest I reckon.

My brother is thinking of doing something similar with his place he has two TVs.

For him is correct to split the aerial feed with a standard splitter then use a diplixer combiner with each feed (+sat feed) and the diplexer at each end?

Is DTT available now in the dublin area or is it still only on a trial?

    Thanks again.

There are plenty of cheaper alternatives, one question, will each tv/ room actually need to be totally independant?

Well, yeah but couldn't he just run another cable? That would be so much cheaper and less hassle.

Technically, they are engineering tests until this Autumn but yes they are currently available from Three Rock.
