    Hello All

When you have a commercial jeep that has an open drive policy on it does anyone know what the general restrictions are on who can drive the jeep.

    I know that there is:

    an age limit 25 - 65 or 25 -70

That you must hold a full licence (Irish, or Eu in some cases)

and that open drive cover is only third party.

But does anyone know are there other restrictions such as,

do you have to have held the full licence for a specific time?

Do you have to have your own insurance on another car?

Do you have to have no penalty points, ect

    Thanks for any info

    Who're you with?

You don't need to be over 25 with Quinn for Open Drive.

Restrictions and policies differ greatly - only way to be 100% sure is to phone your broker or insurance company.

    +1

I know when I used to work for a builder he had a few sprinters etc on the road and anyone with a full license was allowed to drive them as we were insured regardless of age*

Dont know which ins company he was with though.

    *according to him

Yeah I've heard of some 'any age' commercial policies (Father runs business albeit no purely commercial vehicle)

However there is a huge risk/premium with these policies, and most contractors/companies etc usually have them tied in with product/public liability or premises insurance etc. Any 'regular' private policies usually have a clause of only allowing 25-70 to be covered open drive as the loophole of any age would be open to abuse.

Whatever cover you take out be sure to check all of the T&C's of your policy and ensure all details are correct before you let anyone drive your vehicle to avoid a nasty surprise.

    Best of luck OP
