Replacement battery - official or compatible?

I need to replace the battery for my Sony Vaio VGN-FE21M and I'm wondering if I should pay for the official Sony battery or would one of the 3rd party compatible batteries do just as well? Given that the Sony ones are about double the price is it even worth it? Are there any particular brands you'd recommend or avoid? Battery model is VGP-BPS2C.

I'd say go with a compatible part. Sony original batteries are so expensive. I priced one last week for someone. €250

Thanks kikel but that site doesnt seem to be very good value - for the battery I'd need anyway. On Amazon I can get the Sony battery for £98 (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-VGP-BPS2C-Laptop-battery-standard/dp/B000ES2XFS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1232819742&sr=8-1) but the site you linked is £84 for a lower spec compatible battery (http://www.duracelldirect.co.uk/laptop-notebook/sony/vaio-vgn-fe21m-battery-adapter-charger.html). The difference between them is the sony 5200 mAh versus 4400mAh.

Are you living in the UK? The reason i ask is because amazon do not ship electronic goods to Ireland.

No but my sister does and either she'd be over here or someone else in my family would be over to her every few weeks so that wouldnt really be an issue.
