Failed NCT

My Toyota Starlet '99 failed the NCT today (68K miles). The only thing wrong was the front axle suspension which has an imbalance of 43%. An imbalance aove 30% is considered a fail.

Does anyone know how much - roughly - this should cost to fix?

    Thanks

you could get the parts on ebay. they can be fairly cheap there alright, and if ta could fit it urself ya could save even more money, but im sure someone could do it for ya if not:)

I hope I haven't jinxed myself by reading this thread as I have my NCT later this evening.

Yeah I'm not really that handy with the parts. Anyone know how likely it is to cost with labour and parts?

I was going to make a comment about 1 less startlet on the road but I wont... crap, I just did.

Only messing, check ebay for parts. They should be cheap enough. An independent mechanic should fit them cheap no problem.

New front shocks will resolve the issue, around 300 Euro...

Sisters cost €300 for two fronts in a Punto, i'd imagine it would be the same for yours.

It's funny, if the two of them were foooked, but foooked exactly the same it would pass:rolleyes:

That's true, but they would often appear then as a visual fail for oil leaking from shocks...

My car failed for worn tyre the other day (thank fook I don't have to fork out for a re-test), do I just drive up to the guy at the gate or do I have to ring up to tell them I'm coming, it's a bit vague on the sheet.

Just drive up and tell them you're there for a visual re-test. One of the inspectors will just check all 4 tyres have sufficent tread on them, and sign your NCT fail sheet from last time.

They will then print out your disc etc in the test centre
