GEM or JEM module in Ford Focus C-Max

My wife has had some terrible trouble with her 07(from new) Focus. Something called the GEM (Jem?) Module keeps filling with water and causing electrical failures.. example. Driving at night and all lights fail, turning key in ignition to off position and keeping foot on brake, the engine keeps running.

I also know of another Focus with the same problem. Both are C-Max models.

Ford have replaced it 4 times so far, I now want to change the car, what do you think is the chance of getting some compo from Ford (like a discount on a S-Max or similar?)

And has anyone come across this problem before?

Hopefully you've sorted it all out by now.
How much did the GEM cost? I've just got my 05 Focus back from the garage where it has been sitting in the forecourt for 3 days waiting for a slot to run diagnostics. They've mentioned this GEM to me so I'm looking up info on it in case they say I need a new one. Basically my wipers and lights were going on and off randomly overnight with the ignition off and they drained the battery. Rather than wait for a slot that seems an endless wait I took back the car and have disconnected the battery overnight until they ring me. I've read that it may have just been water getting in so maybe it won't happen again.

That sounds like a potentially lethal problem and if it has persisted from new, and various fixes have not worked I would be looking at were you stand in terms of rejecting the car as not fit for purpose. I would talk to a solicitor.
