    quick question re passports. Is it true that you need the new Digital passport to get in to the states?

    im still using the old stylee

    Your existing passport is valid until it expires provided it is machine readable.

    The "digital" passport you refer to is called a Biometric passport;)

    As Bond-007 stated your old machine readable passport is valid provided it was issued before 26th October 2005 if you got a passport on or after 26th October it will be a Biometric Passport with a cover like this note the new biometric icon under neath "Passport".

    In certain circumstances if you lost your passport abroad or got a very rushed passport it maybe either hand written or of the old machine readable type, these would be issued by the Irish embassy's or consulates abroad and if they were issued after 26th October 2005 they would not be valid for entry into the USA.

    The old Machine readable passports had pink pages where your photo was and the new biometric has a blue page with a black and white photo integrated into the passport paper.
