Where to buy swim gear in Dublin

    Hi All,
I am doing the Total Immersion course in Dublin next weekend, and i need to buy flippers. Are there any swim gear shops in Dublin, or even sports shops which have a good selection. I have been to Elvery's in Liffey Valley which is a big shop, but they have a pretty poor selection.
    Any others?
    Thanks a lot.

I know I got flippers in Arnotts a couple of years ago.

Arnotts & Elverys are the only places I've ever bought swim gear in Dublin.

Westwood Gym in Clontarf have a small shop that sells swimming gear. They may be able to order in some stuff if they don't stock it. I'm heading down there in a few minutes so I can check it out for you.

Cycle Superstore also do a number of swimming accessories.

I'd be interested in your thoughts on the TI course when it's over.
Feel like doing a report on it?

    Thanks for all the replies.

No problem. Although i am probably coming from a different place to most people on this board.
Basically, about 4 years ago i did a sprint distance triathlon. I had worked up my swimming distance, but my technique wasn't great. I started reading about swimming technique, and from that i started counting my strokes.
It was taking me ~28 strokes to cover a 25m length. This seemed pretty bad (i am 6'3'', although i don't know if taller people have more or less strokes/length).

I went to lessons, but they were pretty poor.
I bought the TI book and DVD. I found it good, but along the way, i dropped out of swimming (I was finishing my PhD, then starting a new job, then moving city and starting a new job etc. etc.).
I have done some work on the TI technique, but i think these things are quite hard to pursue on your own, so i figured the course might give me the right push.
It is expensive (a little under €400 for two days).

If you are interested, i can do a report, but as you can see from above, whereas you would be interested in it to bring you from good to v. good, i want to go from poor to OK. So it may not be what you are looking for.

Not at all. I'm sure there are some very strong swimmers on the forum but you can be sure that they are outweighed by the number of people who would like to be able to swim x number of lengths without feeling like they are about to die. (where x could be anything from 1 and up)
whereas you would be interested in it to bring you from good to v. good
    Hah! I wish.
i want to go from poor to OK
    Yep. That'd be me.

A report would be great. I'm sure most people would be very interested to hear how you got on.

    Regards.

    Liam

Apologies for the delay in getting back, the shop in WW has a limited number of Flippers so I'd reccomend ringing them to check sizes available before going there if you are still looking to get them

    Hi CarPark.

So, how did you get on?
    Did you learn much?
Did you think it was good value?
    How many instructors/students were there?

Hijacking this thread, but a similar question: any recommendations for buying swim gear online? Want to save on postage, and there seems to be rakes of online stores, especially on ebay.

    Many thanks,

    Dave
