Job call from Berlin

First of all I would like to wish anybody looking for a new job the very best of luck. It ain't easy but guys keep at it whether it online, papers etc and something will come up. Keep positive is the main thing. Don't let it get u down. Plenty of people are in the same both.

Ok now to my problem. I received a very interesting call from an agency on Wednesday advising they want me over in Berlin as soon as possible and that they have an employer who wants to meet me about a position that sounds very interesting.. I speak fluent English and German and have lived in Berlin for a while so would like to move back. I was unfortunately parked in the wrong position so it was not a good time for talking. I asked her to ring back in a hour. She said no problem. No call back. Rang later on Wednesday. No problem. I will ring you at 11 Irish time. No call. Rang at half four Irish time. A colleague said she was gone but would leave an email for her to ring in the morning. No call. Should I send an email in a few hours time, ring back? Does that sound desparate or just very interested? Is very unprofessional from the agency or does it sound like a p**stake?

PS I have met this lady in Berlin before a few years back when she said that no jobs were available. Now she says there is. Should I believe her? Thanks.

Do you know who the employer is? I would try to contact them directly as you are getting nowhere with the agency.

It does seem dodgy that you would hear nothing back from the agency, I would expect them to be desperately trying to fill roles at the moment with so few of them available!

It could be that she hadn't a deal with the company, and is now trying to persuade them to consider her agency with you as the 'bait'. Agencies often use these tactics to get business, especially in hard times.

With that in mind, try searching some German job boards for the position - it's probably posted somewhere either with the company directly or other agencies. If you find it just apply directly!

Thanks for that. Funny enough. I just googled it and found the company! I will apply directly instead of wasting any more time with the agency messing me around.
