Dunne-McCullough?

I know for several years now I have never liked Wayne fighting and I think he should have retired; but this fight would definitely be 'interesting.' One main thing is that it is a safer fight in the health sense for Wayne. Dunne is hardly going to destroy is he? I would like to see it and would hope Wayne doesn't get hurt. Who would your money be on?

It's a risky fight for Dunne and a no win fight really. He wins, so what; he just beat a real 'has been,' he loses and his career is well and truly a sham!

    Any thoughts on this?

Fellas, the last two options in the poll I should not have included, as it doesn't
    make sense. Disregard them

For 1 thing it shows who's the best from ireland, that means something-the other thing is it is a step up for Dunne-maybe a mid way between his recent opponents and the top level fighters!

And like you said, there is a minimal risk of injury to either fighter, if mccullogh comes in fit he would certainly put dunne under pressure,

ps, when dunne was about 15-16 he sparred mccullogh to prepare him for a big fight and taught him a boxing lesson! whats to say the same wont happen here, even with explosive power he wont be KOing Wayne, so this will be a stoppage for Wayne due to constant pressure or a decisive points win for Bernard, i dont see Wayne been able to keep bernard under any serious pressure..

By the way-Wayne said while over in dublin last week, that he gave floyd mayweather a going over in sparring a while back and was never allowed in to spar him again after that! his coaches where just shouting let him wear himself out and mccullogh just kept working him over.

Paul, these stories we all hear about this guy giving that guy a boxing lesson in sparring, I take with a grain of salt. I also heard Dunne was every bit as good as Pac when they sparred.

It's a bit sad really to think that Wayne is a 'step up' in class for Dunne.

Wayne is a punch drunk has been. You said it being a step up, not me!:D

Bernard could win and now that I think of it; the fact Bernard fails to hurt and put away his opponents; Wayne may be forced to take more than necessary. So, it's not all that healthy
    a fight really.

I would still like to see it out of curiosity, as a one off fight. I would just hope the bout isn't choreographed and resembling a spar!

This was from the horses mouth bren when he was over for the ufc, nobody would spar Floyd and wayne got in, and then they where giving him stick about been a little white boy etc,, and he pinned him on the ropes and butchered him-thats what he said anyway, they had the hump and never let wayne in after that!

This would be an interesting fight, I have always like Wayne as a fighter - IMO he is one of the nice guys.

At this stage the fight would not be a step up for Dunne. Wayne unfortunately is only a name.

Well, myself and Paul seem to think it may well be a step up in 'class,' as well
as name. I really don't know what physical state Wayne is in. I know he is a shell; but even as a shell; would he have beaten Faccio and Machado and Marchiano?

Hey, I know he definitely would have in the early noughties'?

I'd still like to see the fight for the event and the historical aspect. It would be
a big seller because Wayne is so well respected and (Dunne does have a following:eek:)

Well, the second it's over; I would then like to see Dunne seek a legitimate top 10 fighter
at 122. Consider the Wayne fight as a warm up; or at least HOPE it's only a warm up!

It would be an interesting fight to see, if it did happen it would be hard to tell who'd win considering we don't really know what condition McCullough is in.

I think it would be a no win situation for Dunne however because if he loses it will put back him getting a world title shot a long way but if he wins people will be saying he beat a washed up fighter well past his best.

    Dont want to see it.
Id love to see Wayne in Ruiz rematch or something similar and Dunne against a solid super bantamweight with a similar or higher ranking than himself.

Anyone who wants to see this happen is just satisfying their own selfish views on the matter. there is no doubts it ticks all the boxes from the showbusiness side of things but come on everyone knows wayne should call it a day while he still can. I mean he had a great career and hes a really genuine bloke but its like he is addicted to getting a taste for former glories which frankly isnt going to happen, I would question his heart after his last fight anyway.

I don't want to see this fight happen. I don't want to see Wayne McCullough fight ever again, for his own sake. I especially don't want to see Wayne McCullough fighting Dunne and further tarnishing his career by losing to a fellow Irishman who was not near, and never will be near the class of fighter that Wayne McCullough was for most of his career.

I would have been interested in this fight a few years ago - but some dude making Wayne quit on his stool throw a whole new light on the situation.
