what are ya looking for performance wise? tbh a good place to start with a glanza is to get proper coilovers for it cos they handle about as well as a foot.

and imo if it aint a turbo dont bother doing anythin to the engine, waste of time and money

i agree gary, even if its a turbo, still go for a larger lump -

    Theirs no replacements for displacement....

Slightly off topic, but the phrase "There's no replacement for displacement" is more commonly associated with bigger Naturally-aspirated engines,it should never be used in the same sentence as glanza or any other small turbo or N/A cars.. :D

    narky rant over.

ah but it does, see, a 1.6+ engine even if n/a would be better then that leave blower 1.3 engine...

but then again it all up to yer' man weither he wants to be all show and no go or what... but either way its going to be an arm and a leg to mod it...

    Best of luck either way.

    are you stupid?

do you not know what sort of power can be gotten from a glanza turbo?

i know of a lad running 300bhp on the 1.3 block, but in saying that it does have forged and uprated internals, a massive turbo, external wastegate, custom manifolds and special engine management, but with a bit of work huge power can be gotten from these. 300bhp is probably the limit on the 4efte 1.3 block, but the 5e 1.5 block from a cynos bolts straight up to the 4efte head off the glanza engine, allowing up to 500bhp to be reached. Basically, the power you can get from a glanza is only limited by the depth of your pockets.

And if you did get that sort of power, you'd have to look into uprated gears, differentials, brakes, driveshafts and suspension etc.

Personally, as was already said, it would stand to you if you started with suspension upgrades, a set of D2 coilovers would be best, they would greatly improve stifness and cornering, also anti-lift castor kit, rear anti-roll bar and rear strut brace will tighten things up greatly. Then get a bigger set of calipers off a levin or bigger toyota, i think BZG levin calipers will bolt on directly? then get a good set of discs and pads, should be more than enough stopping power. You could do a few simple engine mods as you go though, induction kit, decat exhaust, backbox, manifold, HKS adjustable actuator, and a safc mapped properly will see you close to 200bhp

ok 300hp from a 1.3 isnt bad, but look at the torque levels, bet they aint that high at all. hp is only so much, but ya still need torque. torque is worked as force by distance so the stroke on the 1.3 isnt a hell of a lot

thing about running so much power in a small engine like that, is that it wont last very long, by right it would have to be rebuilt every 10000 miles or maybe less.

now look at something like an S15, SR20DET engine, could VERY easily run 300hp and still last a hell of a lot longer. and with good torque figs aswell. and ive seen these engines run at 1300hp, just so ya know

im not arguing about it, what im saying is just putting so much power into such a small engine and small car isnt a great idea. at the end of the day its FWD and so small, it may be quick but bet he goes through rubber quicker than hugh hefner (provided he wears em)

If you ignore them they go away.
Doh! that was field of dreams and more of them turned up.:(

He is correct is saying that there is no replacement for displacement but im not sure he really knows why. In this case it doesn't apply anyway as its 300cc and an unfair comparison.

    As for performance parts try:

Turbo engines will respond better to tuning by there very nature. It just depends on what kind of a drive you want and what kind of power/response you want.

BTW. Pictures needed. Post them now:D
