    Lo,
Found out from the lads at the Sony centre that the Z series is meant to be replacing the W series, so I was wondering do ye have any plans to get them in in any of yer stores, or if ye know when they'll be in stock? It seems the Z series is out now (again, according to the Sony lads). Looking to get it up North, as at a like to like comparison, the saving is about €500 or so if it's bought up the North.

Traditionally the Z series and the W series are two different ranges.

They are almost exactly the same thing TV (electronics, panel, etc.) but the Z series has a much more expensive looking exterior.

The Z series is Sony's premium TV range, with a premium price, but the W series is what most people in the know buy, as it is the same TV at a much cheaper price.

It doesn't look like there will be a new W series (at least it hasn't been announced yet), so the Z series will likely replace it. (I'm wrong about this part, see the lads posts below).

However the new Z series aren't due out until Spring, so any Z series you see in the shop today are the current range. Sounds like the lads in the Sony centre were just trying to get you to buy the more expensive model. Buyer beware.

They were talking crap, which is hardly surprising. As the other lads have said, the W and Z are two different ranges. The W4000 and W4500 will be replaced in the coming months by W5000 and W5500.

The Z range carries a very hefty premium for not a lot extra. 200Hz picture (which a lot of reviewers dislike) and better speakers - but when you're getting a TV like this, you really need a proper AV Receiver anyway!
