Changing cars - insurance question.

I'm changing cars and the new car is less to insure than the old car. The policy still has eleven months to go.

What will happen if I stay with my original insurers? Will the difference be credited toward next years premium?

If it's a significat differece (see your policy booklet) then you'll probably get a refund of the differece (or reduced direct debits if you pay monthly) less administration fees. You may not get a refund if you've had a claim or if it's only 30 or 40 quid (again, policy booklet).

Best bet is to ring your insurance company and confirm with them. Slight differences between companys.

Thanks Random. It should be around the €100+ mark in difference.

I'm with Quinn Direct and I can get a quote online based on changing stuff on my current policy which will tell me my difference in premium. Try the same if you're with Quinn. I'm not sure what other insurance companys do - not driving long enough !

Yeah, have already done that. Old insurance was €540. New one €340, but a month has gone on old insurance plus possible fees will give me around €100+ I hope. Will ring them Monday morning before I collect the car.
