They definately should have been checked. I'd go back and tell them to fit a new set.

How do you mean your "spark plugs are gone"? I don't think I've ever heard that term applied to spark plugs.

Thanks for the responses - sorry shouldn't have said the spark plugs were gone - have a mechanic friend - says they need to be replaced and the leads too - cars engine wasn't working right a few days after the original service so have to go back in

Well if it wasnt running right, it should certainly have been spotted.
If all was well with the car and you just ordered a minor service, then plugs wouldnt be renewed. Do you get it serviced there regularily and are you following a service schedule? I ask because there are major and minor serviced that are generally carried out depending on mileage etc.
    How much was this service?

Was supposed to be a full service cause it was going for an NCT in a few weeks - car was running grand for the first few days after the service but started acting up after that - service cost €150 down the country

    This is what worries me.

Mechanics price a service very cheaply, but to make up for the loss, they try to do the service quicker to fit more cars in, thus leaving out, and missing things that normally would be looked at.

€150 is a great price for a full service, but i would be worried for this price they dont pay as much attention to detail as they should.
