Hope its OK to post this here.

I'd like to move up my weekly long run a notch to about 15km.
Its been 11km for the last few weeks and i feel I'm ready for a slow 15Km

I'm rather excited about this as my longest ever run before was a Dun Laoghaire 12K (milk run - are these still going?) about 22 years ago (I'm no spring chicken). I'm about 3 stone fatter now but my legs are stronger :D

Does anyone have any recommendations for a 15k Wicklow run preferably with minimal or no traffic and fairly flat?
Any motionbased or mapmyrun/ride etc links welcome!

    Go to motionbased.com
    Click on [TrailNetwork]
    Search for [Wicklow, Ireland].
    It'll produce this list.

You should find something to suit your needs.. You can sort by distance, or even refine your search to a specific area. I see a few of my runs there, but pages and pages of Slogger_Jogger's runs!

Hi Supercell, It all depends how willing you are to travel to get your run in. Not far from the run you mention you could do Bray / Greystones and back and that would probably hit the mark.
Down in Wicklow town the run along the sea at the murrough is quite rewarding. Further south runs along Brittas bay can be refreshing.

Inland theres loads of options but you'll get hillier, but no harm. Get out onto the Wicklow way and you'll have oodles of options. From 3 Rock out and back. Glendalough. Glenmalure etc. Other areas of note for a run I found are Devils Glen and Avondale.

Slogger Jogger, seems like you've ran every single mile of road and trail in Wickow, fair play!

Myself and others use mapmyrun.com - here's a quick search under Wicklow between 10 and 20 mile
http://www.mapmyrun.com/search?txtLocation=Wicklow%2C+Ireland&txtKeyword=&lstSortBy=cs.view_count+desc&lstDistanceMin=10&lstDistanceMax=20&lstRatingMin=&lstRatingMax=&lstRouteTypeID=1&btnSearch=SEARCH+%3E - depends where you are in Wicklow of course.
You can always set up a profile and start mapping your own.
By the way know how you feel - I started back last March and spent 3 - 4 mths farting around at distances up to 6miles - sounds like you have come to the same conclusion I did - so best of luck with increasing the mileage. I found adding on 1k every other week and running 8 miles quicker on the alternating weeks has worked for me.

    Thanks BeepBeep67.
Regarding the increasing mileage thing, I've come to the conclusion that unless I'm questioning my sanity near the end of the long runs then its not far enough :)
Full Marathon is over 40K, so still a fair bit to go and it aint coming any quicker if i stick to running comfortably, once a week torture should get me there though :D

Supercell, if you are not adverse to running in the rough stuff.. seen as you are not too far from Laragh.. you could also head up the trails into the Brockaghs. Depending on the weather conditions you could head on towards Tonelagee. A very rewarding run, which can be as tough as you want it too be depending on how hard you push it.
