"fun" with college proxies

    Hi,

I have 2 proxy related issues

    1) I have been using firefox to access the net through my college's proxy. On Monday I got a service page saying that my browser in misconfigured and I should setup a PAC file for the proxies. I did this and I keep getting a timeout on firefox. I put it into Safari and it works but now I have the other issue.

    2) Their are two proxies in the college, a student side with no authentication and a staff side with authentication, I had been using the student side as on the staff side I need to login and I am asked for my login several time per page (igoogle for example is 3-4 times). Is there any way of saying yes to authenticating once per session and not having to reenter the details over and over again.

For the record he "Always allow" button for the keychain works as if I only pressed "Allow"

The IT is the college has little to no Mac experience so they are of no use with this.

    Thanks

    use authoxy

    http://www.hrsoftworks.net/Products.php#authoxy

    - enter your proxy details and usernames etc into the authoxy prefpane......start it.
    - in the network pref pane, change the proxies to 127.0.0.1 port 8080 for http, https and rtsp
    - in the account pref pane add startAuthoxy (in Applications folder) to the login items
    - enoy hassle free net browsing
