Apple Airport Prob

    Can anyone help with this?

I have a Belkin modem hooked up onto my house PC. I have my wifes laptop & my old laptop connected to the modem (wireless) securely using the WEP key.

However, I am unable to connect my new(ish) MBP up to my wireless home modem using AirPort.

If I turn my modem security off them my Airport will connect no probs, but when I switch on the WEP security my Mac will not accept the WEP key and just says "connection timed out" everytime I try to connect.

I have checked, double checked & tripple checked that I have the correct WEP key before posting on here. And as my desktop PC & 2 other lappys are connecting fine I can only assume I am not doing something right on the MBP.

Any help would be much appreciated.:)

There are a couple of different types of WEP password, namely ASCII and HEX. My advice would be to change everything to WPA2 and create a strong password for this which cane be anything you like. WEP is no longer secure and can be roken in minutes, or less if it's a eircom netopia access point.

If that's not possible then try adding the network manually from within the Network panel in System Preferences and selecting a HEX or ASCII key and see if that works. I think the automatic one assumes an ASCII key but I'm open to correction on this :)
