    :confused:does anyone know which alternators from other models suit a 2000 1.8 petrol mondeo and do diesel cars have the same parts

    Not usually, I think there are about 8 different starter motor configurations that go into these Mondeo's, if you're looking for a second hand starter, you'd really want to be taking the old one out and take it with you to make sure you get the same one. I got caught out on this before. Also, if your Mondeo starter motor is acting up, this can be a sign on Mondeo's that the clutch is also on it's way out. Valeo not too long ago started refusing to replace their Mondeo starter motor's under warranty because the cause of failure was contamination by clutch lining dust.

    thanks darragh,l have ordered one from dublin that l can leave back if its not right,everybody l rang said the same as you .its never handy with ford parts
