I recently received an online quote from 25plus.ie for my car which I subsequently accepted and payed for and cover started on the 20/01/2009. Today I received a phone call from 25plus.ie stating that the insurance policy was flagged and that they would actually not be able to provide me with cover and that they would be terminating the policy in ten days with I full refund.

Was told that they recently stopped insuring Integra Type R's and that due to an error it was never taken off the system and it was flagged by the insuring company.

So I've contacted the IIF to see what they say about it, getting a full refund and have just gone back to quinn for insurance but still its a bit of a pain in the ass!

    Anyone any similar experiences?

http://nononsense.ie beat my Quinn direct quote by about €300 with a better policy too (20/Civic/2NCB). Try them, I think it's FBD. TBH I doubt you'll have any comeback with 25plus, at least you got 12days free insurance :)

Its thought tits to them if they quote you for insurance they must honor that quote for the next 30 days. System fault or not.

I'd ring the Financial Services Reg to make sure of the above but that was always the case when I worked on private motor insurance.

yeh there blacklisted everywhere!! ya have to hound insurance companies to get them to quote! just annoyed with the fact they quoted me, 3 times none the less and then sent out all the documents and then decide they cant insure me!

123.ie will insure Intregra Type R's. I just put my details into their website and was quoted for 1100. Only 400 over my 1.4 Golf. Ful lcomp too btw.

Strange. I'm 26, 2 yrs NCB, no claims, no points, and only have full license 6 months, and got quoted. Maybe give them a ring?

Hmmm I got all excited there about nononsense.ie and the 25plus.ie

nononsense.ie wouldnt quote me. (I think this is FBD, would I be right?) As far as I am aware FBD wont insure any cars that are imports!

and the 25plus.ie said that I fall outside their underwriting criteria whatever that means.

    123.ie never quote me either.

I am 26, Female, Full License and 3 years NCB.

I'll give it another try online and if it doesn't quote me I'll see about ringing them, is there an excess on there policies do you know?

I switched from Quinn to 123 two weeks ago. Here's a thread on 123, and i've a post there (#30) that outlines the excess on the policy.

Basically you'd be looking at a €200 excess.

Age can not be used as a reason to refuse insurance (they can load you for it alright but not refuse). As a result some companies went and implemented a must hold a full driving license for X years before they provide cover.

If they are refusing based on age then they are rightly fecked.

My current insurer Quinn takes about €800 year, NoNonsense wants €400 and 25plus.ie wants 1221 euro year!

Btw I find Allianz good when I had the Cupra (1.8 20VT) they even added the thing to their books for me and the cost was about 400 less than any where else. This is not via the Allianz direct outfit, they seem a shower of muppets :p, its a broker product.

    Try insure.ie also.
I have a Focus ST that a few companies won't touch and they insure it with mods and all.

    €895.78 fully comp from 123.ie

But I already went with Quinn at €1221 because 123.ie never used to quote me!

Just noticed the policy was underwritten by Travellers who used to only deal with off line brokers
