I went to this celebration last night and I was very impressed by the re-enactment that they carried out using original text from the day in question in 1919, anyone else go?
One thing I had forgotten also is that the Labour movment stepped aside in the elections of 1918 so as to maximise the Sinn Fein vote, they were honoured last night also with a presentation of a portrait of James Connolly given to the current SIPTU leader

Yes he is correct the first shots were fired that day at Soloheadbag and indeed it was mentioned in the re-enactment by the narrator
