I'm looking to add an extra box to another room in the house, I have sky+ with the quad lnb, and I have a spare outlet on it, I have a few questions about how to do this...

What cable and accessories do I need?

How hard it or are there any guides to installing the extra cable without messing up the signal to the rest of them!

Drilling, do you drill from the inside out, or the outside in?

How much would a nixer cost to get this done?

Well you need some Satellite grade cable, so take a look for some RG6 cable. You also need some F connectors. Some self amalgamating tape would not go amiss either to waterproof the connection on the LNB. Oh and some cable clips to tie the cable to the wall.

If you are stuck, you can buy all the above at your local B&Q or from one of the many online retailers that frequent the boards here. See the sticky on the front of this forum.

As long as the cable is made properly, then you should not mess up the signal for the other boxes. Just try not to move the dish when connecting up the cable to the lnb.

Here is a brief guide on how to make up a cable:

I normally drill from in the inside out.... I don't know how the Pros do it, but at least I know that the cable entry point will be exactly where I want it. On the outside, I cover the hole with with a cover plate, similar to the one in this pic:

As I said, I am not a pro, but that's how I do it and it works for me.

Which pretty well agrees with the Satcure info.

Take a look at their "Easy Installation Kits":

You can probably buy the stuff locally but it helps to have a list!

Note: I wouldn't use RG6 cable outdoors. It has an aluminium foil screen that doesn't last as long as copper. Go for WF100 or similar.

I did not know that about the RG6 cable, thanks for the pointer.

    Even wireless systems need antennas
