    Christ.. that reminds me!

I Sky+'d it on Film4 over Christmas.. watched the first hour and found it completely enthralling and engaging. But I fell asleep about an hour and 15 minutes into it.

I still haven't finished it.. it's still on my Sky box so might watch it tonight.

An enthralling, whimsical, twee journey through an idealised version of Paris and Montmartre. I love it, it's a fantastic story with some engaging characters (particularly those in the cafe). Tautou is excellent in the leading role and the score by French multi-instrumentalist Yann Tiersen compliments the film perfectly.

    One of my all-time favourites.

    Interesting indeed.
My french teacher used to show us french movies all the time, granted this wasn't my favourite, it was still very good. I'd watch it if I saw it on the tv but I wouldn't buy it.

I liked it. I found it entertaining but I didn't think there was a huge impact because of how quirky it was.

Love this movie. It's less about the story in a way and more about the story-telling. For instance, the fact that all the characters bar the love interest are larger than life, matching up with the Amelie's vivid mind.Audrey Tatou is first rate in it and some of the lines in it are fantastic..

Love the story about the Gnome!

If this movie were a sandwich, it would be honey, strawberry jam and nutella smeared between two slices of swiss roll.
    Too sweet for human consumption.

Still on a French food/movie note, give me delicatessen any day.

My sentiments exact! Charming film that leaves me all warm inside and makes me appreciate humanity :)

I really did love this film. I had been working my way through Jeunet's stuff and this was actually one of the last ones I watched, but it is definitely a highlight of his really accomplished career. Visually, it is fantastic and a really great example of Jeunet's quirky and interesting techniques. The story is a simple but very funny one (the photographs of the travelling garden gnome a particular highlight) and has a really strong and universal protagonist to draw you in. There are plenty of feel-good films out there, but this one has the originality and style to really stand out above the crowd, and it is great that if found a wide audience on release, which is always unusual for a foreign language release. It may lack the clever & disturbing dystopian satire of City of Lost Children and Delicatessen, but Amelie is Jeunet's most enjoyable, engaging and fun film.

Piffle, it was easily the best French film we saw I thought. I've seen it numerous times now, its a simple enough story but it is well told with quirky and likeable characters. Tatou carries the film, but the supporting characters all fit perfectly into the world that is created.

    Bull shirt Podge.

    La Heine was fantastic.
    And ofcourse Nikita.

And don't dare try to say that Amelie was better than Taxi, or Taxi 2.

....maybe I could do with watching it again.

I wasn't a huge fan of La Haine. But yes, I apologise, Taxi and Taxi 2 were definitely better.
