Singer, male, 22, looking to start a swing band that'd start out with a few covers but ideally write some original stuff too.... Dunno if anyone's into it but worth a shot sure! Ideally the line-up would consist of vocals, bass, guitar, drums, sax and trumpet..... Wishful thinking?

I'd like to think it's not!
I play drums, if you're still looking to do something.

Bassist here. Sounds like it could be good. Gimme a shout if it's still going ahead.

    Hey there,

Just wondering what kind of covers would you guys be playing? I know the obvious answer to that would probably swing covers. I mean who would you guys be covering?

Hey guys, sorry I totally forgot that I'd started this thread. If everyone is still onboard for something, I'm still well up for it?

    To answer the questions posed...

oc5000 - I hate blues but swing, jazz, rockabilly all sounds sweet to me!

fredzeppelin - I'm into anything that swings, even if I have to sit the odd song out for an instrumental piece so whatever! I mean, there's the obvious Sinatra, Bobby Darin, Paul Anka etc but literally, anything/everything swing/jazz....!

I guess I'll get back to this thread over the next week and see if y'all are still interested. I'll send PMs too if needed and we'll hopefully sort a jam...!

Everyone into the idea of writing some swingin originals?

What sort of tunes are you thinking of doing? Maybe some youtube vids of what you're into?

Where abouts are you situated? Is there somewhere to practice?

    Cheers.

Two tunes that immediately sprung to mind were Mack The Knife and Fly Me Too The Moon but that's literally the first two that popped in. What I would say is that I've no desire to make this my band so don't take that as any sort of 'final word' or anything. They'd be just two of my initial suggestions. Everyone involved would have their pick of songs and hopefully we'd have a bunch of songs that we'd all be mad about jamming out. Anything in the swing category (or anything that you can swing to!) is a-ok by me!

    Thoughts?!

Sound like a good idea. PM if you are looking for a drummer.

K so that's interest from 2 drummers and a bass player.... Maybe as soon as we get interest from a guitarist, we can start moving?

Unfortunately I have absolutely no money. So for me, practice in a rehersal room is completely out.

    Best.

Are you going for male vocals only? I'd love to get back singing/performing, if you're considering adding a female voice as well.

If we want to go for a first jam, I have a connection with a studio in Leixlip.

Sorry, don't need a singer I'm afraid. Thanks though!
