So I reversed my car into a pole and cracked and broke my bumper. I drive a 03 ford focus and have been given a quote of 1600 to fix it.. ie replace it and labour.. is this high.. or is this the norm?? :(

Scrappies mate and try and find one with the same colour or you could get 1 in a diff colour and respray it

Thats massive if its just the bumper?
Or is it the cross member (metal strut) behind the bumper??
even if it was i'd still consider that to be high! Was that qoute from a main dealer or from an independant bodyshop?

I wouldve thought it should only be around 800.

Quote on my dad's car after being rear-ended was initially 1400 - it depends what is damaged by the impact; there could be lights, light mountings, crash protection bars and even stuff like wheel arch liners damaged by the impact.

I'd get a second opinion on that price though seeing as you'd be paying it yourself, in my dads case I just went with the high price as the bloke that hit him was a cock...

Normally to buy a genuine bumper is about the 500 mark, paint would then add approx 300 to that depending on who does it then you would have other costs to factor in.

Another perfect example of a thorough shafting with that price

03 focus - plenty about. If you're near Kilcock dismantlers, head down and have a look ( a great breakers yard setup if you have not been there before ...). You might event get a colour match :) Failing that, you'd pick up an off colour part, get it sprayed by an indy, and you'd be saving a good few bob on your original quote.

What is the colour by the way ?

You can get a new rear bumper for a 2001 to 2005 Focus here for €158:
    http://www.micksgarage.ie/CarSpec.aspx?mode=drilldown&DeptID=99&Make=Ford&Model=Focus%202002-2005&BaseModel=&Year=&Engine=&PetrolDiesel=&TYPE=Bumpers

You will then need to get a quote from a bodyshop to prime, paint and fit it.

Thats a nice price for a new bumper from micksgarage. I would firstly check the breakers for the same colour as you require. If they dont have that, Id go for that new one for €158 and get it painted

    Sounds a bit harsh Libby:eek:

Are you sure theres not a new rear panel or taillights inc?
Is it an RS or St Model?

Post up the new parts list thats on the estimate on here as i deal with bodyshops everyday and ill be able to tell you how much you should pay :D

Find one from a crashed focus the same colour.

About €100 should cover it (Unless it is an RS, the ST would be the same as a normal focus)!

I had a front bumper on a Forester replaced a while back for €600, of which €200 was the cost of the bumper.
