but is there a max buyin..come on that would be sad...scaring off the big fish like ourselves

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 427 ✭✭GKidd

    At the moment there's a max buy-in of €1000.
Hopefully after time we can up it to Kearneys standard.(€5000 Dealers Choice)
If a live straddle becomes common place we can up the buyin for sure.
Would you like me to reserve a place for you ??

A max buyin esp at €1000 is a terrible idea, min of €1000 is much better.

yeah in fairness GKidd limiting it to 100bb's surely defeats the purpose of establishing a game seperate to that which already runs in the casino.

I mean by capping your buyin what do you achieve that the punters who will play in the game wouldn't by having the game in a house and employing a dealer?

Im talking about what benefit is there in having such a high stakes game ("high society gaming") in a hotel rather than at someones home. I mean €10pp/ph is €100 an hour for a table, that would get you a good dealer and plenty of drink.

and whose going to go to a private home with ten grand in their pocket i certainly wouldn't:D understand where im coming from??

Would much rather play in the privacy of someones home with that money rather than in a public hotel

this situation would only work with 10 friends....not with ten fatcat gamblers you just need a common public place as has been found by our hostess with the mostest GKIDD

e100 a hour for the table, let's say the game plays for 8 hours.e800 rake is crazy.dealer costs 100-150 max one expensive dinner guys with max buy in of e1000.Your in for e3000 and you can only rebuy for e1000 and no chance of recovering.
I think you should rethink he whole thing and come back with a decent rake.People who play these stakes including myself don't care about food when into a game of poker.might be ok once off but i'm sure if King's were asked they would accomadate this kind of game with a better rake, safer envirorment ie.members only, security etc....
Or as mentioned a private game in someones house and some home cooking or pizza.
just my tupence but saying what everone should be thinking

Eh. Theres no €5/€10 game in the Kings just €1/€2 I'm afraid

100 BB's stops jokers buying in for €20,000 or fish spunking a grand and reloading for €5,000.
It's just good bankroll management you see.

Establishing a seperate game was at the players request.

Its not really up to the guy running the game to implement good bank roll management for everyone else. Both the guy who wants to reload for 5k, and the rest of the table would want him to be able to do so.

Putting a cap on it is silly. You will only get a select few playing such a big game, and bankroll management shouldnt be an issue with them. It certainly shouldnt be an issue for you

Great value compared to most games around Ireland and the world.

Hope your sitting down for this 1 but thats pretty good value.

"dealer costs 100-150 max one expensive dinner guys with max buy in of e1000.Your in for e3000 and you can only rebuy for e1000 and no chance of recovering."

    Yawn.dealt with before

" I think you should rethink he whole thing and come back with a decent rake."

As is advised by mods in charter, if you don't like it then vote with your feet and don't attend

"People who play these stakes including myself don't care about food when into a game of poker."

Requested by players. Looking for something a little more substantial then pizza.

"might be ok once off but i'm sure if King's were asked they would accomadate(sic) this kind of game with a better rake, safer envirorment(sic) ie.members only, security etc...."

    {edited to remove scathing comments about another club}

"just my tupence but saying what everone should be thinking"

So let me get this straight. Are you expressing an opinion or TELLING players what to think?

Thanks for the bumpage guys keep 'em coming.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 72 ✭✭D.C.C

Great attitude to peoples questions by the way....
I was giving my opinion on the deatils you gave and not telling anyone what to think i'm sure mostly everyone can see what's going on.If people were actually interested in helping poker players and setting up a player friendly envirorment and not to make a quick buck for themselves and running a game right accross the road from a casino you obv have a disposition with, then the rake might not be the issue...
And to your yawn at the comments on the cap,you have shown you have not much experience at running these type of games or any in fact.Your getting feed back from experienced players telling you what they would expect if they were to play.
Just from your reaction to comments here i wouldn't put down my laptop to go and play your game....
    Goodluck you'll need it........

Clearly you are telling people what to think as can be seen in your previous posts. *Hint* Quoted in black and white
Can you see how that works?

"i'm sure mostly everyone can see what's going on.If people were actually interested in helping poker players and setting up a player friendly envirorment(sic) and not to make a quick buck for themselves and running a game right accross the road from a casino you obv have a disposition with, then the rake might not be the issue..."

Numbers speak for themselves.Let the players vote.

"And to your yawn at the comments on the cap,you have shown you have not much experience at running these type of games or any in fact.Your getting feed back from experienced players telling you what they would expect if they were to play."

Another yawn.If you say I don't have experience then it must be the truth.
Tell me oh wise one. How does my rake compare to the rake you pay apparantly playing €5/€10?
Do you even know how much you pay per hour?

"Just from your reaction to comments here i wouldn't put down my laptop to go and play your game....
    Goodluck you'll need it........

Again, and I'll say this very, very slowly....
If you don't like the rake...vote with your feet...don't attend.

I'm sure there's a myriad of home games with plenty of pizza from which to choose.

Right, this thread is quickly turning into a trainwreck. I dont know whats in the water down there, but everyone needs to calm down a bit.

OP - You are promoting the event, its worth remembering that in your replies, there is a definite aura of smartness about some of them.

DuffmanJR - There's no need for the personal abusive comments. Take a 3 day break from the events forum to cool down.

Everyone else, as is pointed out in the charter if you dont like the rake etc then dont attend. OP has complied with the rules regarding disclosure, feedback is welcomed, but it comes to a point when the thread is just going round in circles

If the buyin wasn't capped then I would imagine the game would break within a couple of weeks, as the fish quickly go busto. Good business management ldo. Also why the hell are people complaining about €10 rake ppph? That's amazing for a 5/10 game.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 211 ✭✭starchild

sounds like a good set up
the rake is great but i would def urge the promoter to go with min buyin 1000 and no cap on the max

Can you imagine someone like Connie, JP etc coming on with this attitude :o.

If this does not work out theres bound to be a place for you in City West, I think you will fit right in..

My sentiments exactly. It's funny that regular €5/€10 players are happy with this rake but all the €1/€2 back seat drivers are complaining.

    I'll take that on board.
The game should find its own level after a few nights and we can make any changes then.

Poker456 - We are sick of your constant thread spoiling here. Making a sweeping a abusive statement about the users of this forum isnt such a good idea either. Take a 1 week break from the forum to cool off, I dont know exactly what your beef is with this game, but get over it. Anymore of this type of nonsense when your ban is up will lead to a longer ban.
