Sunroof Golf GTI 1998

    Looking for someone who can do sunroof repairs on a 1998 Golf GTI. Looks like the motor is knackerd. Dont want to spend a fortune on it but its getting on the wifes Tits so to speak and only I'm aloud to do that :D. I'm based in North County Dublin

    Any good mechanic sould sort this for you. I'd imagine you could pick up a motor in a scrapyard fairly easily. Be careful however as the '98 golfs had a different switch arrangement than the '99+ ones so it might have a different motor too.

    I had a '98 golf and the sunroof used to work intermittantly and it turned out to be the knob that you turn to open the sunroof, just a thought.

    Thanks for that will try a breakers to see if I can pick one up. I beleieve it's a bit of a messy job and a lot of mechanics don't like touching it. I suppose they can't be very picky if theres not a lot of work around now.

    The switch seems to be fine as I can hear the motor trying to work,the roof will open sometimes all the way but then won't close and I have to use the manual override to get it shut and even then it seems out of alignment...not flush on one side.
