Ucc dj Society - Battle of the DJs 2009

    The competition runs during Rag Week..
    Monday 9th - Thursday 13th February

    Venue: Old Bar UCC

    We will provide a full set up of:

    * 2 x Technics mk5's
    * 2 x Pioneer cd decks
    * 1 x Pioneer DJM600
    * If preferred, you can bring your own mixer & needles.


    THE FORMAT FOR THE WEEK, SAME AS USUAL

    * Monday 9th - House
    * Tuesday 10th - Hip Hop (inc funk, soul, grooves, dubstep, dnb etc...)
    * Wednesday 11th - Techno
    * Thurday 12th - Final (one winner from each day)

    Judges on the days TBC.
    Each Judge will play a set after each heat as usual...

    Here are the Rules:

    1. Over 18's only.
    2. DJ's who have had a residency in a club or bar in the last 12 months can not enter.
    3. We cant tell ya what to play but try to stick close to one genre.
    4. You cant play the same set in the final as in the heats (of course there might be one or two tunes you may want to use again, thats fine)
    5. Winners of battle from previous years are not allowed to enter.
    6. You can bring in your own needles and mixer but all other equipment provided must be used, fx box permitted (if we track down a mixer with one that works).
    7. Judges decision is final.
    8. Serato Scratch & Final Scratch ARE allowed.
    8. Rules subject to change.

    Times: 20 minutes a set in the heats with 8 slots per heat
    40 minutes a set in the final

    DJ Entry fee: €20

    The prizes are 2 VIP tickets to the Red Bull Busic Academy info session in Dublin & cash TBC. Also prizes for the 2 runners up.

    Do you plan to record the mixes and stick them online again?

    I've no connection with UCC or Cork for that matter but I stumbled on the DJ Soc's website a few years ago and found some cracking mixes that kept me entertained for ages. Some serious talent down there, hope it continues!
