Watch out for the "food police" in the UK.

As the title states, food police are the latest addittion to the up and coming nanny state of the UK.

Householders are to be visited by officials offering advice on cooking with leftovers, in a Government initiative to reduce the amount of food that gets thrown away.

The officials will be called "food champions". However, they were dismissed last night as "food police" by critics who called the scheme an example of "excessive government nannying".

There used to be a 'Ministry of Food' back in wartime UK, where the government used to give out tips on how to make things go further, reduce waste etc. I can only assume this is along the same lines - and Jamie Oliver did make a whole program about it before Christmas!

That's from the Daily Torygraph Telegraph, what do you expect? Doesn't sound like too crazy an idea if you ask me if you remove the anti-government slant that's been put on it by the paper.
