VHI and Oral Surgery

Anyone know the situation here... I am covered by the VHI and my dentist who is excellent referred me to a chap called Dr McCourt... unfortunately he failed to inform her that he was no longer associated with the VHI formally.

Now according to him to get 4 wisdom teeth out it will cost 950, 350 of which will be covered by the VHI.

My wife went to Ken Halpenny, and seems to remember paying only the consultants fee.... Even so according to his secretary I'd be looking at 700 euros for the procedure of which the VHI would pay 430 leaving me with 270 to pay...

Big difference, even if I do have to pay the consultancy fee all over again

Does anyone have any idea how this system actually works.... The girl from VHI failed miserably to explain it to me, all she was saying was that Dr McCourt was not VHI registered, and couldn't explain where the 350 euros came from....

    Thanks

    Jaybee (****confused****)

Not too sure about the whole vhi thing but would highly recommend Dr Halpenny. I got four impacted wisdom teeth out over a year ago and he was excellent.

As far as i know if covered under vhi you pay initail consult fee to any doctor or dentist and then rest is covered but vhi should let you know if you ring them..
