Has anyone here ever designed their own logo in Photoshop or the like?

If so what size should I make it so it's suitable for multi purposes such as website, van, letter heads, biz cards and so on?

Sorry if this doesn't fit into this forum.

Make the logo whatever size you want, and resize it for the different formats.

Bear that in mind, when printing to the smallest size - like a business card, so if you have any text on it - it should be readable.

    Hello an_other,
I would strongly recommend a vector creation graphic design software like Adobe Illustrator or Corel Draw. Usually, when you design your logo using a vector graphics program, the logo can be exported in a various of formats, and it is also fully scalable to any size you might need, without any resolution loss (banners, outdoor signage, etc).

Adobe Photoshop has some nice effects, but since is a program that works basically with pixels, the effects won't look appealing when the logo image is scaled several times.

    Regards

My advice would be to keep ur logo simple.remember the logo needs to be visuable if advertsing in tiny newspaer columns.

Therefore I would say keep it to one symbol if possible.Try to avoid using words as part of the logo. Depending on your industry, use effective colours.

Also try to use a symol in a manner that relects your industry.i.e. Nike use a 'swoosh' tick. The symbol has almost moving qualities, representing the sports/leisure industry they operate in.

    Good luck with it.
